Hype culture is a real and people are always lured to the concept of “the next big thing”. Most companies cash in on this very concept. Hype isn’t always bad, but when it fails to deliver the excitement, the product receives a lot of hate and negativity.

Elon Musk as we know, is in the forefront of technology and he always tries to “innovate” alternatives to the existing solutions and many times it fails to deliver.

The latest example is the Tesla Cybertruck. Announced in November 2019, it received hype more than any other vehicle in the market at the time, due to its futuristic, alien-like structure, angular looks and it seemed like something out of an utopian society. It received around 146,000 pre-orders in the first 1.5 days after the unveiling-each requiring a US$100 refundable deposit.

Fast forward to 2023, the production hasn’t even started. And the test mules seen on the road are far different than the one that was unveiled and this upset a lot of fans.

There was insider news that the engineers in R&D department created a completely different model if the Cybertruck fails to take off.

The main challenge faced by the manufacturing section is the fit and finish of the Cybertruck as we all know Tesla is quite notorious for panel gaps and underwhelming finishes.

As days go by, prominent manufacturers like Ford, Chevrolet have released pretty compelling alternatives to add salt to the injury to those who pre-booked the Cybertruck 4 years ago.

Since Tesla compared to other manufacturers is considered a young car company, there are so many hurdles in front of them and how they overcome the challenges, only time will tell.
