Wind turbines are considered a clean source of energy. Most of its parts can be reused or recycled except for the rotor blades. Rotor blades are made of fiber glass to withstand extreme weather conditions. They are replaced once in 10 years. This creates a waste problem that begs the question of transportation and storage. Modern wind turbines can be about 140 m tall with blades almost 55 m long. Some older-generation wind turbines though out of service still stand waiting to be removed. Many argue that that these fiber glass blades do not release any harmful chemicals into the ground and are safe compared to general waste. Across the globe scientists are looking for a way to re-purpose these blades. As the turbine technology evolves the faster the current models are replaced and more blades end up in landfills.
Just like clean energy generating wind turbines, E-scooters are accelerating towards a more sustainable and Eco-friendly alternative for curbing carbon emissions.
